IIA was established in 1991 (H-3) by three bodies : Ichihara International Friendship Association, Ichihara Papakura Association and Ichihara Japan-China Friendship Promote Association. Since then, it has been taking a vital role in promoting international mutual understanding and friendship. Years later, individual members were invited to join in and do the international voluntary work.

IIA organizes world-wide events annually by volunteers supported by city organization and all other supporting members for the IIA.
